Nagadipa Purana Vihara, also known as Nagadeepa Purana Vihara, is an ancient Buddhist temple situated in the Jaffna district of Northern Province, Sri Lanka. It is one of the country's sixteen holiest Buddhist shrines and a place of worship for Buddhists. The temple is said to be the site where Lord Buddha intervened and mediated in settling a dispute between two warring Naga kings, Chulodara and Mahodara, over the possession of a gem-studded throne. The throne was offered to the Buddha, returned to the Naga Kings, and later enshrined in the Rajayathana stupa located next to the temple. The temple has been reconstructed and developed over time, including during the periods of kings Devanampiya Tissa and Dutugemunu. Today, it is a sacred place for Buddhists and a symbol of inter-racial harmony in Sri Lanka
