Mirisawetiya Vihara, also known as Mirisawetiya Dagaba, is a historic Buddhist temple located in the ancient city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. The temple was built by King Dutugamunu in 161-137 BCE and is one of the most ancient Dagabas in Sri Lanka. According to legend, the king built the temple as a result of a miracle, where his imperial sceptre, which contained a sacred relic of the Buddha, became stuck in the ground and could not be moved. The temple has undergone several restorations and renovations over the centuries, including during the reign of King Kasyapa I and King Kasyapa V. The temple is a significant historical and cultural site in Sri Lanka and is considered an important place of worship for Buddhists. The Mirisawetiya Vihara is also known for its unique architecture and artistic value, with a large stupa and several image houses. The temple is a popular tourist destination and is considered a must-visit site for anyone interested in history, culture, and Buddhism
