Kaudulla National Park

Kaudulla National Park is a dry evergreen forest covering an area of 6656 hectares, situated in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The park is home to a large herd of elephants, with around 200 individuals, and is also a habitat for many other animal species, including foxes, deer, wild boar, monkeys, and birds. The park's main attraction is the seasonal elephant gathering, where hundreds of elephants congregate during the dry season. The park is also an important bird area, with over 160 species of birds reported. The Kaudulla reservoir, built in the 3rd century AD, is a key feature of the park and provides water for the wildlife. The park's flora includes tropical dry mixed evergreen forests, grasslands, and wetlands.
