Nuwara Eliya is a city in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. It is known for its temperate, cool climate and is considered to be the most important location for tea production in Sri Lanka. The city is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya was a hill station used by the British residents of what was then Ceylon, and many of the buildings retain features from the colonial period. The city has a subtropical highland climate, with no pronounced dry season, and a mean annual temperature of 16 °C. It is a popular destination for those looking to experience the natural beauty of Sri Lanka's hill country
