The Temple of the Tooth, also known as Sri Dalada Maligawa, is a Buddhist temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka, that houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. It is a world-renowned place of worship and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple is located in the Royal Palace Complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy and is considered one of the most sacred places in Buddhism. The relic is housed in a two-story inner shrine and is rarely on public display. The temple complex also includes the Sri Dalada Museum, which contains a collection of documents and photographs relating to the tooth's history, and the Pattiripuwa octagonal tower, which houses ancient palm-leaf Buddhist manuscripts.
