What to expect

Retiro Park is a large city park in Madrid, Spain, covering over 125 hectares with more than 15,000 trees. It features various monuments, gardens, and sculptures, including the Jardín de Vivaces, Jardines de Cecilio Rodríguez, and the Rosaleda rose garden. The park has a large artificial lake where visitors can rent rowing boats, as well as the Velázquez Palace and Glass Palace, which are used as exhibition halls. The park is also home to several playgrounds, making it a popular spot for families with children. Additionally, visitors can explore the fully restored Monkey Pit, which was part of the Retiro Menagerie, and enjoy the park's many walking and cycling paths

Activities: We spent an afternoon at El Parque de Retiro. We entered the park through the Alcala gates and let the kids play at the playground with slides near the entrance. We took a rest stop by the lake and watched the kids collect rocks and leaves. We visited the Cristal Palace and saw the ducks and turtles

Highlights: The kids enjoyed playing at the playground, collecting rocks and leaves and watching the ducks and turtles. My husband enjoyed taking a siesta on one of the benches ✨
