The Monastery of Poblet and Santes Creus

The Monastery of Poblet and Santes Creus are two Cistercian monasteries in Catalonia, Spain. Poblet Abbey, also known as the Royal Abbey of Santa Maria de Poblet, is a Cistercian monastery founded in 1151, located at the foot of the Prades Mountains. It was one of the two royal pantheons of the kings of the Crown of Aragon and features impressive tombs of the rulers of the Crown of Aragon, including King James I and King Peter IV. The monastery's architecture is in the Catalan Gothic style and includes a church, a cloister, and a chapter house. Santes Creus, on the other hand, is a former Cistercian monastery located in the municipality of Aiguamúrcia, also in Catalonia. It was founded in 1158 and features a church with a Latin cross plan, a cloister, and royal tombs, including those of King Peter III and his son, James II. Both monasteries are known for their historical and cultural significance, making them great places to visit with family and friends
