The Roman Amphitheatre of Tarraco is a Roman amphitheatre in Tarragona, Spain. It was built in the 2nd century AD and could house up to 15,000 spectators. The amphitheatre was used for gladiatorial fights, combats between beasts or men and beasts, and other public events. Today, it is part of the Archaeological Ensemble of Tárraco, a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO in 2000. The amphitheatre has undergone various transformations over the centuries, including the construction of a Visigothic basilica and a Romanesque-Gothic church. Visitors can explore the remains of the amphitheatre, including the oval floor plan, pits, and foundation of the basilica
