Laguna de Los Clicos

Lake Yaiza, Canary Islands, Spain

What to expect

Laguna de Los Clicos, also known as Charco de los Clicos or Charco Verde (Green Lagoon), is a natural spectacle of contrasts between the volcanic sand on the beach, the blue of the sky, and the emerald green of the lake's water. The lake has been formed by sea water that has filtered through the subsoil and has been colored by different minerals and a type of algae. It is a protected area and it is prohibited to touch the water. However, it is possible to take a dip in the sea at the nearby El Golfo Beach. The area is also known for its semi-precious gems, such as olivine, which are used by artisans to create jewelry. Visitors can enjoy the amazing views from a viewpoint and explore the nearby town of El Golfo, where they can enjoy fresh fish at local restaurants
