The El Portillo Visitor Centre is a discreet building located next to the northern entrance to the Teide National Park. The centre explains the relationship between the plant and animal life of the park and its physical features, allowing visitors to learn about the geological history of the area and discover how the landscape was formed and how the flora and fauna adapted to the environment and to the special climatic conditions. The centre features a screening room, a video room, and a small museum with interactive elements, picture boards, and back-lit panels. The centre also has a botanical garden that displays, researches, and reproduces the area's native flora, and offers a free guided trail service
