The Caminito del Rey is a walkway pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Ardales in the province of Málaga, Spain. The walkway is 1 meter in width and rises over 100 meters above the river below. It was originally built to provide workers at the hydroelectric power plants with a means to cross between them and was later used by locals. The path has been restored and reopened, offering a 2.9 km walk along the side of the gorge. Children under 8 years old are not allowed to access the Caminito del Rey, and those over 8 years old must bring their original ID or Family Book to verify their age
