Antequera is a city and municipality in the Comarca de Antequera, province of Málaga, part of the Spanish autonomous community of Andalusia. It is known as 'the heart of Andalusia' because of its central location among Málaga, Granada, Córdoba, and Seville. The city has a rich cultural and economic heritage, with over 50 monuments and buildings dating back to the Bronze Age, including the Menga Cave, Viera and Romeral dolmens. The historic centre features a series of churches, collegiate churches, monasteries, and convents, as well as palaces, arches, gates, and shrines. The nearby El Torcal Nature Area is a popular spot for climbers and features unstable limestone rocks, while the Vega de Antequera is a fertile agricultural area providing cereals, olive oil, and vegetables.
