The African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary (APSS) is a world-class seabird sanctuary located in Gansbaai, Overstrand, Western Cape, South Africa. It was established to assist the endangered African penguin colonies of Dyer Island, where the species has declined dramatically over the years. The sanctuary has a fully equipped lab and a vet on standby to treat birds immediately, increasing the survival rate. It is also creating awareness around the perils marine birds face in the wild. Visitors can observe the birds in the Conditioning Pen through one-way glass, and there is a curio shop and a coffee area. Entrance is free, but donations are welcome. The sanctuary depends heavily on donations and offers sponsorship opportunities
