Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is a botanical garden located at the eastern foot of Table Mountain in Cape Town. The garden is one of the great botanic gardens of the world and places a strong emphasis on the cultivation of indigenous plants. It includes a large conservatory exhibiting plants from different regions and outdoors, the focus is on plants native to the Cape region, highlighted by the spectacular collections of proteas. The garden has a variety of facilities, including restaurants, shops, and venues, which are accessible for wheelchairs. However, not all areas of the garden are accessible due to its steep gradient. The garden has a rich history, dating back to 1660, and has been managed by various owners, including the Dutch and British, before being bequeathed to the nation by Cecil Rhodes in 1902
