The Blyde River Canyon is a 26 km long canyon located in Mpumalanga, South Africa. It is one of the larger canyons on Earth and is known for its lush subtropical vegetation. The canyon forms part of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, which is a popular tourist destination. The reserve offers stunning views of the escarpment from legendary viewpoints such as God's Window, and features natural attractions like Bourke's Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, and the Pinnacle. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as hiking, horse riding, white water rafting, and birdwatching, with over 1000 species of flora and abundant bird and animal life, including Verreaux's eagle, the rare bald ibis, and all five species of South African primates
