Mestni trg, also known as Town Square, is a major square in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. The square is home to the Ljubljana Town Hall, in front of which stands a copy of the Robba Fountain. Nearby, at Cyril and Methodius Square, stands the Ljubljana Cathedral. The Krisper House, where Julija Primic, the inspiration of the Slovene Romantic poet France Prešeren, was born in 1816, is also located opposite the Town Hall. The square features several other notable buildings, including the Haman House, Lichtenberg House, Skoberne House, Rakovec and Obrez Houses, and Souvan House, each with its own unique architectural style and history. The square's medieval architecture was largely destroyed in the earthquake of 1511 and later replaced by Renaissance and Baroque buildings, which have survived until the present day
