What to expect

Rakov Škocjan is a picturesque karst valley created from a karst cave by its ceiling caving in and collapsing. The valley features two natural bridges, the Great Natural Bridge and the Small Natural Bridge, as well as the ruins of the Church of St. Cantius. Visitors can walk along the well-maintained footpath next to the tall trees and enjoy the view of the valley. The valley is also home to the Rak stream, which meanders along the bottom of the flat clay bottom, surrounded by reeds and floodplain meadows. Rakov Škocjan has been declared an internationally important wetland – a Ramsar site, and is also the first Slovenian landscape park, founded in 1949. The valley is a great place to visit with family and friends, with its unique geological features and natural beauty
