The Castle of Čachtice is a castle ruin situated on a limestone-dolomite hill in the Čachtice Kras, above the brook Jablonka in the northernmost part of the Little Carpathians. It was once the residence of the 'bloody countess' Elizabeth Báthory, who allegedly killed 600 young girls and bathed in their blood to stay young and beautiful. The castle was built in the 13th century and widened in the 15th century. Today, its picturesque ruins offer a nice panoramic view. The Renaissance manor house of Čachtice from the end of the 17th century is the seat of an exhibition of the Museum of Trenčín oriented to history and ethnography of the area
