The Peterhof Palace, also known as the Russian Versailles, is a series of palaces and gardens located in Petergof, Saint Petersburg, Russia. The palace was commissioned by Peter the Great as a direct response to the Palace of Versailles by Louis XIV of France. The Grand Palace, the centrepiece of the imperial estate, was built between 1714 and 1725 and features immaculately restored halls, including the Parade Staircase, the Dance Hall, and the Throne Hall. The estate also includes the Upper Park and the Lower Park, with numerous fountains, statues, and small palaces. The Peterhof Estate is a popular tourist destination and a great place to visit with family and friends
