What to expect

The Catherine Palace is a former imperial palace located in the town of Pushkin, 25 kilometers south of St. Petersburg. The palace was built in 1717 as the summer residence of Empress Catherine I and was later expanded and rebuilt by Empress Elizabeth in the Russian Baroque style. The palace features a grand facade with symmetrical axis system, overhead porticoes, and a huge size of 325 meters. The interior of the palace includes 32 rooms, with the most notable being the Amber Room, which was restored in 2003. The palace also features a Main Staircase in the Rococo style, created in 1863, and several other rooms with unique decorations and designs.
