The Santuário do Sagrado Coração de Jesus, also known as Santuário de Santa Luzia, is a beautiful basilica located on the hill of Monte de Santa Luzia, overlooking the city of Viana do Castelo. The basilica is of Romanesque-Byzantine inspiration and features impressive rose windows, the largest in the Iberian Peninsula and the second largest in Europe. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Lima river valley and the Atlantic Ocean from the top of the hill. The basilica is a popular spot for weddings and also hosts the Festa de Santa Luzia annually on December 13. Nearby, visitors can explore the ruins of the ancient Citânia de Santa Luzia and enjoy the amenities of the Pousada do Monte de Santa Luzia hotel

Activities: We went to the Santuario do Sacrado Coracao de Jesus Monte de Santa Luzia, a basilica perched above Viana Do Castelo. Lucie, who sees her name everywhere, was jumping around. We explained that the sanctuary bears her name and that Saint Lucie is represented there. We walked around the gardens and went geocaching
Highlights: Lucie thought it was her birthday! The gardens were great for walks and geocaching. We also enjoyed the panoramic views from the terraces of the sanctuary ✨
