What to expect

Haute Croix, also known as High Cross, is the highest point in the Sintra Hills, standing 528 meters in altitude. It provides wonderful views of Lisbon, Cascais, the Atlantic Ocean, and the rural hinterland. A cross was erected on this spot at the order of João III, but it was later destroyed by a storm. A new replica of the cross was carved from a single block of limestone in 2008. The area is surrounded by the Park and National Palace of Pena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal, famous for its mountain-top setting, whimsical blend of architectural styles, and vibrant colors
