The Cais das Colunas is a historic docking area located in the Terreiro do Paço, in the center of Lisbon. It has been the noble entrance to the city, where chiefs of state and other prominent figures have disembarked. Today, it serves as a docking point for cacilheiros, boats that connect the city to Cacilhas. The area is surrounded by impressive marble steps and offers a unique view of the city. In the past, the cais was also used for weekly baths, where some people would even bathe naked, causing controversy at the time
