Fajã Grande is a rural civil parish in the municipality of Lajes das Flores, located on the island of Flores in the Azores. The parish has a population of 220 and is one of the largest centers in the municipality. It is situated on the western coast of the island, about 17 kilometers from the municipal seat, and is the westernmost settlement in Europe. The area is known for its natural beauty, with a scenic coastline, waterfalls, and a fertile land that permits the cultivation of various crops. The parish has a long history, with the first settlers arriving in the 16th century, and has been an important center for commercial activity, including the production of woad, a plant used for dye. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery, including the waterfall of Poço do Bacalhau, and the westernmost point of Europe, the Monchique Islet. The area also has a guarded bathing area, with toilets, shower, and bar, and has been awarded the Golden Quality Seal and Quality Coast awards
