What to expect

The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte is a Portuguese Catholic shrine located in Braga, Portugal. It is a notable example of a Christian pilgrimage site with a monumental, Baroque stairway that climbs 116 meters. The sanctuary is centered on a Via Crucis that leads up the western slope of the mount, including a series of chapels that house sculptures evoking the Passion of Christ, as well as fountains, allegorical sculptures, and formal gardens. The celebrated Stairway of the Five Senses is the most emblematic Baroque work within the property. The sanctuary has been classified as a Property of Public Interest and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019
