The Museu da Emigração Açoriana is a museum that tells the story of the thousands of Azoreans who left the archipelago in search of better living conditions around the world. The museum has a vast collection of objects, photographs, and documents that showcase the history of Azorean emigration, particularly to Brazil, the United States, and Canada. The collection includes a Bandeira and Coroa do Espírito Santo, travel trunks, and an important photographic and video archive with testimonials from emigrants. The museum is located in the old fish market building in Ribeira Grande and offers guided tours with audio guides in English, French, and German. Next to the museum is the Casa Lena Gal, which features a collection of contemporary paintings by a local artist
