Jardim Botânico Antonio Borges

Botanical garden Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal

What to expect

The Jardim Botânico António Borges is a public park in the city of Ponta Delgada, built in the style of 19th-century romantic gardens. It was founded by António Borges da Câmara de Medeiros, a merchant and politician from the Azores, who imported hundreds of exotic species to the island of São Miguel and transformed his property into a botanical garden. The garden features a variety of vegetation from all continents and is one of the largest green spaces in the city, making it a pleasant spot for visitors. The park has undergone restoration work, including the cleaning and resizing of lakes, the consolidation of romantic grottos, and the introduction of new plant species. It is a popular spot for various activities, including sports, leisure, and cultural events
