What to expect
Aveiro is a city known for its canals, earning it the nickname 'Venice of Portugal'. The city has a mild climate and is ideal to visit both in summer and winter. The city's canals were used to transport salt and edible seaweed in 'moliceiros', small boats similar to Italian gondolas, which are now used for touristic rides. Aveiro also has beautiful beaches, such as Barra Beach and Costa Nova Beach, and several museums, including the Museum of Aveiro and the Vista Alegre Museum. The city's main park, Parque Infante D.
