What to expect

The Passadiços do Paiva are 8 km of walkways located on the left bank of the Paiva River, in Arouca, Portugal. The walkways provide a unique and unspoiled natural experience, surrounded by beautiful landscapes, waterfalls, and quartz crystals. The route extends from the river beaches of Areinho and Espiunca, passing by the Vau beach, and offers a journey through biology, geology, and archeology. Visitors can enjoy the clear waters of the Paiva River, observe the local biodiversity, including endangered species, and be thrilled by the geosites of the Arouca Geopark. The walkways are suitable for families and nature lovers, but it's recommended to bring water, comfortable clothing, and shoes, as well as protection from the sun and rain. The difficulty level is high due to the steep unevenness, and the average duration of the walk is 2 hours and 30 minutes

Cascata das Aguieiras – Passadiços do Paiva
This family's experience:

Activities: We decided to go to the Passadiços do Paiva, a beautiful walk made up of walkways and many stairs. We had a picnic by the stream, until a herd of goats decided to taste our sandwiches! We started our walk by the river, using the walkways. The children were chattering and gently mocking me, me who had warned them about the difficulty of this hike

Highlights: We enjoyed the beautiful point of view. We were happy to have made the effort to reach this beautiful viewpoint, even after seeing a couple park right next to the walkway before crossing it ✨
