The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum is a museum on the site of the Nazi German Auschwitz concentration camp in Oświęcim, Poland. The site includes the main concentration camp at Auschwitz I and the remains of the concentration and extermination camp at Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Over 1.1 million people, including 960,000 Jews, died at the camp during World War II and the Holocaust. The museum was created in 1947 and has since become a World Heritage Site. It features national exhibitions, a research centre, and a collection of artifacts and archives.
