Toruń is a city on the Vistula River in north-central Poland and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its population was 196,935 as of December 2021. Toruń is one of the oldest cities in Poland, first settled in the 8th century and expanded by the Teutonic Knights in 1233. The city is renowned for its gingerbread-baking tradition, large Cathedral, and well-preserved Old Town and iconic central marketplace. Toruń hosts the Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography and is noted for its high standard of living and quality of life. The medieval part of the city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, and the Old Town of Toruń was added to the list of Seven Wonders of Poland in 2007
