What to expect

Lima is the capital and largest city of Peru, located in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac, and Lurín Rivers, in the desert zone of the central coastal part of the country, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is considered the political, cultural, financial, and commercial center of Peru. The city has a population of over 10 million inhabitants, making it the most populated city in the country and the second most populous in the Americas after São Paulo. Lima is marked by severe urban segregation between the poor and wealthy neighborhoods. The city has a rich history, having been the capital and most important city in the Viceroyalty of Peru and later the capital of the Republic of Peru. It has hosted several international events, including the 2019 Pan American Games and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Meetings
