Sacsayhuamán is a citadel located on the northern outskirts of the city of Cusco, Peru. The site is at an altitude of 3,701 meters and was built by the Incas in the 15th century, particularly under Sapa Inca Pachacuti and his successors. The complex features dry stone walls constructed of huge stones, with the workers carefully cutting the boulders to fit them together tightly. The purpose of Sacsayhuamán is uncertain, but it is thought to have been used for ceremonies and as a fortress. The site offers a wide view of the valley to the southeast and is a popular tourist destination. Each year, the Inti Raymi, the Inca Festival of the Sun, is celebrated at Sacsayhuamán
