The Plaza de Armas is the main urban and tourist spot in the city of Arequipa. It is surrounded by the stunning Catedral de Arequipa, the Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús, and the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Merced, as well as the famous granite portals. In the center of the plaza, there is a bronze fountain with a sculpture of a dwarf playing a trumpet. The plaza is part of the historic center of Arequipa, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
