What to expect
The Al Alam Palace, also known as Qasr Al Alam, is the ceremonial palace of the Sultan of Oman. It is located in Old Muscat, surrounded by the Portuguese-built Al-Mirani and Al-Jalali forts. The palace was rebuilt in 1972 and features gold and blue columns, tapered at the bottom and supporting a flat square roof. It is a symbol of Omani modesty and humility, representing the country's values. Visitors can stop near the gates and take photographs, and the palace can also be viewed by boat from the harbor. The surrounding area includes the National Museum of Oman, the Ministry of Finance, and other government buildings, making it a great place to visit with family and friends
