Al Alam Palace

Al Alam Palace, also known as the Palace of the Flag, is a ceremonial palace in Muscat, Oman. It is one of six palaces belonging to the ruling monarch Sultan Qaboos and is used for official functions like welcoming foreign dignitaries and heads of state. The palace was rebuilt in 1972 and features a unique façade of gold and blue columns. The inner grounds of the palace are off-limits, but visitors are permitted to stop near the gates and take photographs. The palace is surrounded by the Portuguese-built Mirani and Jalali forts and is a symbol of Omani modesty and humility. The palace's design is elegant, with meticulously-polished marble surfaces, and it houses a guest villa with its own pool, spa, and walled gardens
