Trolltunga is a rock formation situated about 1,100 metres above sea level in Vestland county, Norway. The cliff juts horizontally out from the mountain, about 700 metres above the north side of the lake Ringedalsvatnet. The hike to Trolltunga is a challenging 27-kilometre round-trip with a 1,100-metre gain in elevation, and it takes approximately 10-12 hours, including breaks. The trail passes through the Precambrian bedrock and features glacial potholes, steep climbs, and scenic views. Families with children should be prepared for a long and demanding hike with no shelters or supply points along the way, but the stunning scenery and unique rock formation make it a rewarding experience
