The Urnes Stave Church is a 12th-century stave church located in the municipality of Luster in Vestland county, Norway. It is one of the oldest stave churches in Norway and is known for its exquisite carvings and elaborate interior. The church is an outstanding example of traditional Scandinavian wooden architecture and brings together traces of Celtic art, Viking traditions, and Romanesque spatial structures. The church has been owned by the National Trust of Norway since 1881 and is a World Heritage Site. The church's medieval interior is unusually well preserved, with a crucifix above the chancel arch, medieval candle holders, and a 'bishop's seat'. The church is also home to a number of activities for children, including a playground, a nature trail, and a fun archaeological dig.
