Krossobanen is an aerial tramway in Rjukan, Norway, and was the first of its kind in Northern Europe. It offers a view of the sun which is obscured by the surrounding mountains during the winter months. The horizontal distance between the lower and the upper station is 814 meters and the difference in altitude is 498 meters. Visitors can hike to the top using Ryes Road, a historic trail that follows the cable car route, and enjoy a stunning panoramic view over Rjukan from the summit. The trail is approximately 4 km long, with 21 turns and an elevation gain of around 500 meters. At the summit, there are toilets and opportunities for further hiking into Hardangervidda National Park
