Vikingskipshuset

Museum Oslo, Oslo, Norway

What to expect

The Viking Ship Museum is a great place to visit with family and friends, showcasing three Viking era burial ships, including the completely whole Oseberg ship, as well as other Viking Age finds such as sledges, beds, a horse cart, wood carving, tent components, buckets, and other grave goods. The museum also features a statue of Anne Stine and Helge Ingstad, who confirmed the sagas' stories of Viking voyages to America through archaeological evidence. The museum is part of the Museum of Cultural History and is located on the Bygdøy peninsula in Oslo, Norway

This family's experience:

Activities: We admired very impressive Viking boats! The boats were used as tombs for Viking kings. As they were buried, they are very well preserved. "The children really enjoyed this visit." We took a boat to get there, a pleasant 15-minute ride

Highlights: The children really enjoyed this visit. We liked seeing the well-preserved Viking ships. It's amazing to see how they were buried and later exhumed ✨
