What to expect

Reine is a fishing village located on the island of Moskenesøya in the Lofoten archipelago, above the Arctic Circle. The village has a population of 297 and is the administrative centre of Moskenes Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. Reine has been a trading post since 1743 and was also a centre for the local fishing industry. Today, tourism is important, and many thousands of people visit annually. The village is situated on a promontory and is known for its beautiful scenery, with a photograph of the village from the mountain Reinebringen being used on several tourist brochures and books. Reine was selected as the most beautiful village in Norway by the magazine Allers in the late 1970s
