Moskenesøya

Island Moskenes, Nordland, Norway

What to expect

Moskenesøya, also known as Moskenes Island, is an island at the southern end of the Lofoten archipelago in Nordland county, Norway. The island is shared between Moskenes Municipality and Flakstad Municipality. It is known for its dramatic landscape, with mountains plunging straight into the sea and small bridges connecting the small islands. The island has a distinctive feeling of closeness between the mountains, the sea, and the visitor. The highest peak on the island is the 1,029-metre-tall Hermannsdalstinden mountain. There are several villages on the island, including Reine, which is one of Norway's most photographed areas, and Å, which is a traditional fishing village and home to the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum. The island is also home to the Lofotodden National Park, which offers tranquil experiences and is Norway's youngest national park. Families can enjoy hiking trails, such as Reinebringen, and visit the remote Bunes Beach inside the national park
