What to expect

Svartisen is a collective term for two glaciers located in Nordland county in northern Norway. It is part of Saltfjellet-Svartisen National Park, located in the Saltfjell mountain range. The glaciers are located in the municipalities of Beiarn, Meløy, Rana, and Rødøy. Svartisen consists of two separate glaciers that are separated by the 1-kilometre long Vesterdalen valley. Visitors can join a guided glacier walk, which lasts for about 5 hours and requires normal good physical shape. The tour allows visitors to get close to the mighty glacier and experience its beauty. The area also offers great hiking opportunities, with the ultimate trip being a guided glacier walk. Families can enjoy the breathtaking views and explore the glacier together

Activities: We took a boat ride across the lake and hiked for 3 km to the Svartisen Glacier. We enjoyed the amazing views of the glacier and the surrounding mountains, even though we had to rush back to catch the boat
