What to expect

Alta is a town in the county of Finnmark, Northern Norway, and the largest town in the region. It is situated at the inner end of Altafjorden and is the centre for Alta municipality. The town has a population of around 21,000 inhabitants and is an entry point to the great Finnmarksvidda. Alta River, regarded as the best salmon fishing river in Norway, runs through the town.
