The museum showcases the city's and region's shipping and fishing history, and is home to the childhood home of artist brothers Gustav and Emanuel Vigeland. The museum also has an art collection, including works by local artists such as Adolph Tidemand, Olaf Isaachsen, and Gustav Vigeland. The museum is adapted for disabled visitors, with access for wheelchairs, adapted toilets, and guide dogs are welcome
