Hokitika Gorge

Gorge Kokatahi, West Coast, New Zealand

What to expect

Hokitika Gorge is a stunning natural attraction featuring turquoise water, white limestone cliffs, and lush green rainforest. The gorge is easily accessible via a well-formed forest trail, making it an ideal destination for families. A gentle walkway through the rainforest leads to several viewpoints, including a swing bridge with spectacular views of the gorge. The track is pushchair and child-friendly, and the walkway is accessible for wheelchairs with assistance. However, it's essential to supervise children at all times and keep to the track, as there are fall hazards and strong currents in the river. Swimming is not advised due to the river's swift and deep waters
