The town features over thirty historic shops and buildings, including a church, hotel, and train station, as well as a Chinatown exhibit showcasing the contributions of Chinese miners. Visitors can ride a historic heritage train, pan for real gold, and explore the town's many attractions, including a foundry, sawmill, and holographic theatre show. The park also offers family-friendly activities, such as a flying fox, treasure hunts, and old-fashioned lollies, making it a great place to visit with family and friends

Activities: We went to the Shantytown Heritage Park, a living museum recreating a 19th-century village at the time of the gold rush on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. We were able to participate in a gold panning workshop
