Space Place

Space Place at Carter Observatory is a great place for families to learn about astronomy and space sciences. The facility features interactive galleries, a digital full-dome planetarium, and a historic Thomas Cooke telescope. Visitors can explore the southern skies, learn about planets, stars, constellations, and galaxies, and discover New Zealand's contribution to astronomy and space sciences. The planetarium offers a range of shows for all ages, and the interactive galleries include a do-it-yourself black hole and asteroids that kids can touch. The facility also offers telescope viewings, where visitors can look at the night sky and see details on the sun's surface. Additionally, there is a junior astronaut zone with an interactive space station exhibition, making it a great place for kids to learn and have fun
