What to expect

The Kapiti Miniature Railway is a mixed-gauge club track located in a picturesque garden setting, featuring a triple loop with two viaducts, two tunnels, and two spirals. The track is just under a kilometre long, taking about 7 minutes for a round trip. The railway operates a variety of live steam, internal combustion, and battery electric locomotives, including a newly acquired loco, De504. Visitors can enjoy a ride on the train, and children under 3 years old can ride for free. The railway also offers a 'drive a train' experience for a small fee. The place is suitable for families, with a picnic area and a safe environment for kids, although babies and toddlers should be accompanied and held securely by an adult at all times
