Petone Foreshore Playground

Playground Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand

What to expect

Petone is a large suburb of Lower Hutt, located on the northern shore of Wellington Harbour. It has a flat land, nestled between the Hutt River to the north and east, hills on the west, and Wellington Harbour to the south. The foreshore has a shallow sandy beach, formed by sediment from the Hutt River, which is a popular family swimming spot. The Petone Beach is groomed over the summer period and is safe for swimming in most places. There's a swimming raft anchored off Oriental Street from Labour Weekend until Easter. The Lions Park playground is popular with children of all ages, as is the Lions Park Model Railway, which operates on Sundays between 1pm and 4pm in clear weather
